Enchanted Learning, a Kid-Friendly and Kid-Safe Site
Enchanted Learning (enchantedlearning.com) provides a colorful, kid-friendly,
interactive site that is easy to navigate for any child…even a pre-schooler.
The offerings of the award-winning Enchanted Learning are many:
Little Explorers searchable picture dictionary is a 2,448-word search engine
of word entries and definitions created and written for children who will be
able to understand visual and verbal prompts as meanings for the words listed.
And the picture-words are printable, as well, allowing the kid user to print
and personalize his/her choices, to color and label, and even to play a missing
letter game, as one letter in each word is left out—so the Enchanted Learning
user can fill in the correct letter.
Enchanted Learning also features dynamic and instructional holiday activities.
For instance, in February, children can log on and participate in Valentine’s
Day cards and crafts activities, or they can learn about Chinese Astrology,
make origami paper items and toys, or learn about and practice Chinese counting—all
for Chinese New Year celebrations, which take place Februrary 9th this year.
In addition to the main Enchanted Learning features, the site has a “See
What’s New” section: a k-3 “Theme Pages” section (where
kids can learn about history and about international explorers, for example);
a teacher/educator section (for integrating materials from the site into classroom
learning activities); and a guideline for parents and kid-friendly adults to
find out how to teach web surfing strategies to the little ones.
But with or without the how-to guidelines for adults, the Enchanted Learning
site is set up in the most simple and usable manner, one which facilitates clicking,
learning, and fun participation in fun and colorful and child-safe activities.
Though many adults will attest to the fact that kids are more computer savvy
than we adults are most of the time!
